Andy's First Swim

Andy went swimming for the first time on Sunday. He was in his little froggy pool, and it was SO cute! Unfortunately, the swimming session didn't get to last too long because the Texas critters came out in full force (i.e. ants and mosquitos). But we had a good time while it lasted.

God's Answers

I've been praying about whether or not I should pursue a specific job opportunity, and God has been really faithful to answer me, even though it's not the answer I want. We talked in Bible Study last night about wisdom, specifically James 1:3-5:

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Let him ask in faith and not doubt, for he who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed about by the wind. Let not that man expect that he will receive anything from God; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

The wisdom here is situational wisdom - God promises to give us wisdom if we ask for it in a specific situation. So, He gave me the wisdom not to pursue this opportunity. He answered me in several ways:

1. Every time I asked someone to pray for me about this, I didn't have a peace about it.

2. A friend of mine told me not to mess up a good thing. She didn't mean to discourage me from working, but God used that very specifically to my heart.

3. God just keeps providing for us monetarily in the strangest ways. Last week, I got free underware for Andrew from Walmart (I'm sure he appreciates me sharing this!), and last night, I won a gift certificate to Giacomo Cibo e Vino! God used this to remind me that He has all power to take care of us, and I must trust Him.

4. The only way I'll be able to stay at home long term is if we re-finance our house. We need to do this ASAP. I started working on this several months ago, but I didn't finish (our bank was giving us a hard time). I thought we missed the low interest rates, but I saw something on the Today Show this morning about how interest rates are at a 50-year low right now, and the lady said, "If you're going to refinance, you need to do it RIGHT NOW!" It was like God was speaking straight to me and again telling me that He provides.

Anyway, I just had to share this because God has been very real to me through this learning process.

Love at First Sight

Andy had his first taste of Sonic today (apple juice slushy - thanks for the idea, Christine!). He was in baby heaven! We sat out on the grass and enjoyed our drinks. It's not too terribly hot yet.

6 Months and Teething

I can't believe my baby boy is 6 months old already!

He weighs 17.5 pounds (50th%) and is 26.5 inches long (50th%). His super human power is to daily drool an amount equivalent to his own weight.

Trip to San Antonio and Austin

Andy with my precious friend, Finity, in Austin.

Andy hanging out with his great-grandparents.

Andy and I made our first road trip by ourselves, and it went relatively smoothly. There's nothing like changing a dirty diaper and feeding your kid a bottle in the parking lot of a truck stop in Seguine, but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. Andy did SO well. I am blessed to have such a good baby.
We visited my grandfather and his wife in San Antonio and had a wonderful time. My grandfather was in love with Andy, and they enjoyed making faces at each other. Michelle took to Andy like he was her own.
The next day, Andy and I make the trek up to Austin to see Finity. We had a great time with a picnic at the park and a run along the river. How are we going to convince her to move to Houston from Denver? I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon . . .

Aggie Muster

Andy's first Aggie Muster was a hit. We celebrated our Aggieness with some great friends. Last year, we had an all adult Muster, but this year, the kids were everywhere. Great fun.

My friend Traci brought precious baby Claire for her first Muster, too. Claire's daddy has already made it known that Andy better watch it around his baby girl!

There are FOUR babies in this picture - Lukey is pregnant with TWINS!

Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '32!

Mom, Benjamin, Anna, Anna's friend Michaela, Andy and I all went to the zoo about a month ago. It was Andy's first trip. I must say that the only animal he was really interested in was the turkey.
We had a picnic lunch after our tour of the animal kingdom. I love this picture of Andy touching my face!

Andy "pet" the goats, and by pet, I mean grab a handful of hair. I think these poor goats are way to used to being manhandled by children because it didn't bother him at all - the goat slept right through it!
